BLM Proposes Resource Management Plans for Northeast Wyoming, Nebraska

NEWCASTLE, Wyo. – The Bureau of Land Management is proposing plans to guide resource management on public lands in northeast Wyoming and throughout Nebraska. If approved, the plans would provide for responsible use of America’s public lands while managing threats to sensitive resources, address comments submitted by the public and cooperating agencies, make nearly all federal mineral estate in the area available for leasing (including fluid, solid, and non-energy resources), allow for livestock grazing on all federal lands, and allow for commercial timber harvest. The BLM last updated the northeast Wyoming plan 25 years ago. That plan covers 287,900 public surface acres and 1.7 million acres of federal mineral estate in Crook, Niobrara, and Weston counties. The BLM last updated the Nebraska plan 33 years ago. The Nebraska plan covers 5,100 public surface acres and 208,300 acres of federal mineral estate across the state. The four-month extended comment period on the draft plans, which included a total of five public meetings offered in-person, virtually, or both, ended in March 2025. The BLM received 77 comment submissions resulting in 865 unique, substantive comments. Additional information about the plans is available at the BLM National NEPA Register . US Department of Labor recovers more than $500K in back wages from San Diego deli for 6 workers

SAN DIEGO – The U.S. Department of Labor has recovered $500,256 in back wages for six deli workers who were not paid the local minimum wage for regular hours or overtime premiums for hours worked over 40 per workweek. The department’s Wage and Hour Division investigated Chau Deli, operating as A Chau Sandwich, and determined that the employer paid workers a flat rate of $100 per day despite often working 11-hour days, averaging 55 hours each week. The investigation found that the regular rate of pay for these workers was less than the local minimum wage.The division also found that workers were not paid overtime premiums for hours worked over 40 in a workweek, in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act’s overtime requirements. As a result of the investigation, each worker was paid approximately $83,000 in back wages.“The Wage and Hour Division remains committed to upholding federal labor law protections for workers supporting themselves and their families,” said Wage and Hour Division Administrator Andrew Rogers. “The division stands ready to assist employers with understanding and complying with the laws we enforce.”Learn more about the Wage and Hour Division, including a search tool to use if you think you may be owed back wages collected by the division.Employers and workers can call the division with questions and requests for compliance assistance at its toll-free helpline, 866-4US-WAGE (487-9243). BLM Seeks Input for November 2026 Sale of Oil and Gas Leases in New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas

SANTA FE, N.M. – The Bureau of Land Management today opened a 30-day public comment period to receive public input on plans to include 30 oil and gas parcels totaling 8,071 acres in New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas in a November 2026 sale. The comment period ends August 17, 2026. The BLM completed scoping on these parcels in June 2026 and is now seeking public comment on the parcels and related environmental analysis. The BLM will use input from the public to help complete its review of each parcel. Leasing is the first step in the process to develop federal oil and gas resources. Before development operations can begin, an operator must submit an application for permit to drill detailing development plans. The BLM reviews applications for permits to drill, posts them for public review, conducts an environmental analysis and coordinates with state partners and stakeholders. All parcels that are included in a federal oil and gas lease sale include appropriate stipulations to protect important natural resources.
