Powell Gypsum Quarry

The BLM Price Field Office has approved the 2026 Powell Gypsum Quarry and issued a Finding of No Significant Impact for the proposed continuation of gypsum mining activities in Emery County, Utah.

The approved Environmental Assessment (DOI‑BLM‑UT‑G020‑2026‑0029‑EA) analyzes continued mining within a previously disturbed 3.3‑acre area and concludes that the proposed operations—consisting of gypsum excavation, internal material handling, use of existing access routes, and concurrent reclamation—will not result in significant environmental impacts. This project aligns with BLM’s multiple‑use requirements by facilitating responsible resource extraction while preserving landscape integrity through focused project design and reclamation measures. Robinson Road

The BLM Grand Staircase- Escalante National Monument has issued a final decision to authorize the Robinson Road and utilities right-of-way to allow a private landowner to reconstruct/maintain a bridge crossing at Johnson Wash to allow for year-round access to the property. Utilities would also be installed within the existing roadbed and attached to the underside of the bridge.
