Summary: An individual commenter opposes the proposed drain tile setbacks, arguing that the regulations are "poorly wrote laws" that will negatively impact future generations' ability to enjoy waterfowl and hunting as a form of therapy and tradition.
Good day to all who may see this. Every person has a different perspective of ducks. Whether it be cute, tasty, fascinating, or beautiful we all have our opinion. From my perspective, ducks are therapeutic. They are what fill my mind in a world full of evil that seems to enjoy the evilness. I know I’m not the only person who sees ducks this way. The duck hunting community is full of individuals who view these god crafted creatures as a way to escape a harsh daily reality and have hope. No matter where a duck hunter may be, what flyway they live in, what city they are near we all see ducks from a place of peace. A place where there is no worries or stresses or evil men tearing us down we see ducks as our hope. Waterfowl in general are a creation like no other being born in regions that are covered in feet of snow for months on end and only having maybe half of a year in with a moderate forecast. In this short moderate time the duck is getting ready from the day it is born to go on an adventure of a life time to a place it doesn’t know but to a place it needs to go following rivers and waterways it does not know the name of but knows it needs to go. All of this to reach a destination to hopefully create new life for a new duck to go on a new journey. While I may not be good with words, something like this may sound like us as humans path with god. Putting our trust in something that we know is right. Not knowing what or where the path will take us but following something that feels bigger then us bigger than something we could ever imagine. Following hope. If we can’t help protect the magnificent duck from poorly wrote laws, generations ahead won’t be able to view the perspective of ducks as therapy. Or as a reason to chase a passion or memories that could create with family/friends. Mandating drain tiles may not have a big impact on this upcoming migration or the next, but it will for generations to come. Let’s make a change for the kids out there who will need a light one day, the kids who need a passion, the kids who need therapy without walls.
Thank you.
