Summary: The commenter opposes the proposed action, arguing that deregulation will cause permanent damage to wetlands and the water system. They advocate for the preservation and restoration of wetlands to provide flood prevention, natural filtration, and benefits to wildlife and humans.
Wetlands are necessary elements of our water system. Flood prevention, natural filtration, and water table replenishment all benefit from healthy and extensive wetlands. Deregulation will predictably and perhaps permanently damage wetlands and our entire water system. I oppose deregulation. Preserving and restoring wetlands is a better plan and would benefit humans directly, beyond the wetlands’ obvious positive impact on animal, fish, bird, and invertebrate populations.
