I and so many of my peers resent the transparently vile rhetoric that passes for citizen participation on display in this petition. As Dr. Schwartz et alii seem to see it, medical scholarship must bind transgender women (women in real life with real lives and an exceptionally high level of humanity, hereafter: real-life women) from something demonstrably safe and could not possibly be used to protect them from concerted disinformation. It is baffling that the petition's undersigned get to claim there is no high-quality study evidence out there and then uses it to seek Part 15 testimony from detransitioners in particular—a segment that is by and large not composed of transgender women nor possesses a reputation of high-quality evidence beyond a sample size of their individual selves. So how come the large body of publications, clinics, and patients developing the best practices of hormone therapy and documenting the overwhelmingly positive outcomes cannot be trusted to do just that, but the large body of alleged evidence collated for the petition necessarily to be trusted to disprove said positive outcomes? Another behavior that in a normal world would disqualify any medical practitioner who signs onto rhetoric like this is the insistence on tying gender dysphoria wholesale to "Asperger syndrome", a dated subclass of diagnosis of autism with roots in Nazi Germany and assigned overwhelmingly to individuals assigned male binary sex upon inspection after birth. It is one among so tragically many avenues for the medical establishment to insist that someone they can't bear to not see as somebody's son couldn't possibly know themself better than those around them and should surely not be trusted with any bodily autonomy. If any of the regulatory action in the petition gets taken up, it will not keep anyone safer, instead only empowering more of the same gatekeeping medical professionals to preempt their own patients, because it seems only natural that they couldn't advocate for themself nor take informed risks. "We wouldn't dare promote a first-line pharmacological remedy that has only proved itself overwhelmingly effective for gender dysphoria itself! It didn't fix any of the symptoms we want to perform whataboutism with or socially murder him about!" The mask may as well be off by now if you are going to cite the Cass Review: the only evident goal is not to protect anyone, but to bind and erase. We will not be shouted down, and I hope you are ashamed to be wielding a government regulator to erase your fellow Americans with.
