I am a family member and part of a parent community where many children are undergoing hormone treatments, including testosterone and estrogen. Through ongoing conversations and observations, I’ve witnessed some deeply concerning challenges that deserve more attention and open discussion. Some of these young people, after starting hormone treatments, have not found the relief or clarity they hoped for. Instead, many are facing increasing struggles in their daily lives — feelings of loneliness, confusion, anxiety, and isolation. Some are searching for answers, including professional help, but still feel unheard or unsupported. At the same time, relationships between these children and their parents are often becoming more strained. Many of them long for understanding and acceptance, yet communication can break down, leaving both sides feeling overwhelmed and disconnected. I also have a personal experience in my family. My niece, who has been taking testosterone, has experienced ongoing physical symptoms such as gastrointestinal issues, heart palpitations, and other health concerns. Alongside this, she has struggled with emotional instability, increased anger, and a deep fear of not being accepted by society. These experiences have made me realize that there is a lack of a truly safe, balanced, and compassionate space where these young people and their families can: Share their experiences openly Access broader perspectives and support Talk about both physical and emotional changes Feel heard without judgment I would like to help create a platform or community specifically for girls who are currently on testosterone, or have been in the past, along with their families — a space for connection, support, and thoughtful dialogue. If you have similar experiences, or if you are interested in helping build such a space, I would truly appreciate connecting with you. Thank you.
