Summary: The commenter opposes the proposed citizen petition to create a registry of trans women, arguing that it would endanger transgender individuals and violate their privacy and medical autonomy. They contend that gender-affirming care is medically beneficial and that the petition is motivated by prejudice rather than genuine concern.
At a time when government persecution of transgender people is increasing, creating a registry of trans women would only serve to put these people in danger.
Gender-affirming care is already well established as having a strong positive effect on mental health, as well as reducing suicide rates and having a very low regret rate. Creating additional barriers to accessing this care will violate patients' privacy, medical autonomy, and well-being.
The people who created this petition did not do so out of a genuine concern for patients, but out of a blatant hatred of trans people and a desire to interfere with their privacy, safety, and medical autonomy. Their insistence on misgendering trans women as "males," and attempts to override the medical decisions of the people they pretend to be advocating for, are just a couple of the obvious signs.
If you implement their requests, you will be endangering estrogen users, not protecting them.
