Summary: A cisgender woman opposes the proposed action, arguing that restricting access to hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for transgender individuals violates their right to medical treatment and harms their well-being. She also strongly opposes the creation of a registry for transgender women, citing concerns over privacy violations, harassment, and sexism.
Being transgender is a medical condition. Therefore, it obviously needs medical treatment. What is the root cause of people who transition? It is gender dysphoria, which is a very legitimate condition. Studies and real transgender people tell us that HRT greatly reduces gender dysphoria, therefore alleviating the condition that they have. It is absolutely unjust to take the right of medical treatment (HRT) away from transgender people. If we take away HRT from trans people, and therefore reducing mental stress and depression in trans people, what else are we willing to take away? Will people not be allowed cosmetic surgery to help fix an insecurity? Will I and millions of others lose access to necessary medications that keep us alive, healthy, and safe? HRT rarely causes adverse reactions, and to restrict access of HRT to all transgender people when it may only negatively impact a small few is frankly ridiculous. That’s like me not being able to access Propranolol for my heart condition because it affects some people poorly. That doesn’t help anyone. Taking away HRT serves only to HURT people who need help. I implore you to consider that being transgender is a condition that has the right to healthcare and medications, just like any other condition. Being a legal adult and choosing what is best for you and your health should NEVER have federal restrictions. Keep the United States as The Land of the Free, where everyone is different, and everyone has equal rights.
Furthermore, creating a registry of Transgender Women is absolutely a violation of privacy and freedom. This “list” will only serve as a tool of stalking and harassment to transphobic creeps, which not only a terrible idea, but is also a legal nightmare waiting to happen, which would create many criminal cases and put stress on the police force and judicial system that doesn’t need to exist.
Additionally, creating a registry of ONLY transgender women is just ridiculous. First off, why are we only getting a registry of trans women? What about trans men? Would they not also be in the equation? This registry shouldn’t even be a consideration in the first place, as it’s a disturbing violation of privacy, which is a human right. But why exclude trans men? Why is it just about trans women? This is illogical and comes from a place of deep sexism.
No one needs to be hurt or have treatment taken away. I implore that you do the right thing and STOP this bill from moving forward.
Sincerely, a cisgender woman who cares about freedom for all.
