Summary: A regional flight attendant argues that the proposed secondary barrier is inefficient and potentially dangerous during emergencies. They request an extension of the current exemption until a more efficient version, similar to those used on Airbus jets, can be developed.
As a 15 year Regional Flight Attendant this secondary barrier option is not at all efficient and would be detrimental in an emergency especially a medical emergency of a passenger. Please extend the excemption until a much more efficient option can be made for regional jets like the version the airbus has. The amount of time it will take to set up and take down the very inefficient version would take away from our current duties which are numerous. Also, in the event of a fire in the cabin, passenger medical emergency, or other time sensitive emergency in the cabin, it will take a long time for us to deal with the secondary barrier. We NEED a more efficient version. I believe a better version can be made given more time. Please extend the exception.
