Summary: The commenter provides feedback on a Request for Information (RFI) regarding space activities, highlighting concerns about potential disturbances to existing infrastructure, coastal energy supplies, and local communities. They suggest the agency require submitters to clarify how they will mitigate these impacts.
I have three distinct areas of comment about this RFI. The agency should ask submitters for clarity on how they propose that existing leases and uses are not disturbed. For instance, at Boston's Logan Airport, the nearby City and Airport found themselves required to invest in damage prevention facilities in the nearby communities. Failure to consider this disturbance could lead to unexpected infrastructure investments. Second, the RFI preparation submitter should consider how far away from fishing and other facilities such proposed space activities would occur. For instance, George's Bank in Gulf of Maine is the site of a national gas off the coast facility. Infusions of gas propelled activities are likely to disturb existing infrastructure. Third, much of the coastal areas of the country rely upon oceanic areas for energy supply. I would strongly encourage any RFI submitter to connect with ISONE or the related energy provider in coastal areas to determine how their proposal would remove energy supply to local communities.
