Summary: A private resident opposes the proposed commercial leasing for offshore minerals, citing concerns about environmental damage to the ocean floor and the destruction of marine habitats. The commenter argues that the project will harm local recreational fishing and leave taxpayers to bear the costs of environmental restoration.
The only people who will benefit from this project are the ones who do no live here. Once they destroyed the bottom floor, they will live us (residents) and future generations to pick up the pieces and the county/state (tax payer) to mend the damage they have done to the ocean floor. I am no scientist but one hour of dredging could destroy plant life and habitat that have taken decades to flourish. We owe it to our children and grandchildren to protect our way of life here in virginia including recreational fishing. I Vote NO to this project.
