Offshore mining of mineral sands has many similarities to offshore diamond mining, e.g. De Beers operations in Namibia. A great deal of work has been done on mining methods, environmental impacts and mitigation measures, etc. If you have not done already, we would suggest a literature review and discussions with regulators and operators in southern Africa.
