Summary: A private citizen opposes the proposed commercial leasing for offshore minerals in Virginia's waters. The commenter argues that mining activities could damage marine habitats, harm the fishing industry, and cause coastal erosion or sediment issues.
I am vehemently against BOEM leasing our ocean floor to Odyssey or any company to scrape for minerals. This could seriously endanger marine habitats and stir thick sediment in clouds which could smother plankton, fish and other marine mammals! Has a study been conducted on possible erosion to the shoreline or harm to coastal Virginia? It may also disrupt our fishing industry! I oppose it!
