A vital part of all firearm transactions is the conversation that accompanies the physical transfer. By shipping firearms straight to the consumer there is no dedicated person to vet this transaction. This is dangerous because all firearms stores see high volumes of people who are knowingly, or unknowingly, facilitating a straw purchase. By eliminating the person-to-person portion of the transaction, we are taking away our one opportunity to vet these transactions.
It also creates issues with state guidelines. It will create a large question on process in states like Michigan or Pennsylvania that have high state involvement. It will increase the volume of phone calls coming in asking questions but vastly reduce the foot traffic and ability to sell to consumers walking in the door.
We heavily advise not implementing this change - not only to protect small business, but also to protect all individuals by continuing our efforts to keep firearms out of the wrong hands.
