N.P. GunsmithOpposeBusiness
Summary: A shop owner in New York opposes the proposed rule, arguing that it will harm small businesses by favoring large online firms and imposing unnecessary fees on buyers. The commenter requests that the direct shipping rules for standard firearms be struck from the plan.
Under this rule, no one ever has to say yes to a gun sale. As a shop owner in New York, I know my customers and keep my community safe. This rule will kill small businesses by moving sales to big online firms. ATF’s own report at 91 FR 25216 admits this move only helps a few dealers, forces a $7 fee on buyers, and does not even know if the tech companies can handle the work. Plus, the seven-day wait makes the whole thing pointless. I do not mind the current NFA process, but please strike the new direct shipping rules for standard firearms from this plan.
