Bullseye FirearmsOpposeBusiness
Summary: The commenter, representing a small brick-and-mortar gun shop, opposes the rule because it allows direct shipping of firearms to homes. They argue this will hurt local businesses, reduce face-to-face safety checks, and increase the risk of straw buys.
This rule will kill local gun shops. It allows shipping standard firearms directly to homes, which takes customers away from neighborhood stores. These shops provide hands-on safety advice and spot risky buyers in person, things a video call cannot do. Current rules for NFA items work well because they require fingerprints, photos, and actual government approval. The new plan lacks that real check and only relies on a notification system. This shift forces small dealers to compete with giant online sellers who have big networks. This idea will not only destroy many small Brick and Mortar Businesses, it will cause an increase in Straw Buys. Please remove the provisions for direct shipping of standard firearms from this final rule.
