Serenity’s Safe Shot LLCOpposeBusiness
Summary: The commenter, a local gun shop owner, opposes the proposed rule because it favors large online retailers over small local businesses. They argue that the rule will hurt small dealers who cannot compete with national chains and request the removal of direct-shipping provisions for standard firearms.
My local gun shop serves as a vital community hub where real experts provide hands-on safety guidance and help spot straw purchases. This proposed rule will kill shops like mine by shifting sales to large online retailers. Small dealers simply cannot compete with the prices of national chains that have in-state networks. While I do not oppose current NFA rules requiring actual government approval, this new plan replaces that standard with a simple waiting period. It forces buyers to pay for new ID checks while gutting the local businesses that keep towns safe. Please strike the direct-shipping provisions for standard firearms from this final rule to protect our small shops.
