Summary: The commenter, a former police officer and current NRA instructor, supports the proposed rule. They argue that individuals who have passed background checks should not be treated with suspicion or required to seek permission to travel with legally permitted firearms.
Hello, I am a former police officer, current NRA instructor, hunter, concealed carry permit holder, and competitive shooter. I strongly support this proposed rule. It has never made sense for someone who has passed a thorough background check to then be treated with suspicion by having to ask permission to travel within their own country with a legally permitted item. I'm also certain that the agency neither cared about this requirement nor wanted to know or have to deal with the paperwork that this created.
