Summary: The commenter supports the proposed rule, arguing that the current requirements for traveling with short-barreled rifles create an unnecessary burden for both citizens and ATF employees. They also suggest a future rule to remove these items from the National Firearms Act entirely.
I am in favor of this NPRM becoming a final rule immediately upon the completion of the comment period. The current rule is a huge burden to not only law abiding citizens to have to request permission to travel across state lines with their legally owned short barreled rifle as well as the ATF employees to have to process these requests.
I also believe that an additional NPRM needs to be created to remove short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns and silencers from the National Firearms act altogether as the tax is completely gone.
