This is a transparent and deeply un-American attempt to circumvent the second amendment under the clever guise of a culture-war trojan horse. I don't understand how anyone who has ever called themselves a Republican could possibly support introducing more restrictions to gun ownership. Isn't the whole platform of Republicans supposed to be removing excess red tape and restrictions imposed by government? Firearm legislation has been shut down again and again in this country because of the importance of protecting individual liberties - and now you are turning around and requiring detailed personal information about those individuals who seek to exercise those liberties? This is the first step in a slippery slope to the gutting of our right to keep and bear arms.
