As a gun owner, I believe it does not matter the gender of an individual who purchases a weapon.
This is a misguided attempt to be politically correct and does not serve a purpose in meeting the stated mission of the agency: "Our Mission. ATF protects American communities from violent crime driven by the illegal use of firearms, explosives, and acts of arson". (https://www.atf.gov/about)
As stated, the focus should rather be on keeping ALL individuals safe and properly trained in the use of a deadly weapon.
