Summary: A Wisconsin resident opposes the proposed rule change, arguing that requiring the selection of biological sex on ATF forms violates rights to self-expression and disenfranchises non-binary individuals. The commenter characterizes the action as unconstitutional overreach.
I'm a resident of Wisconsin where I have enjoyed a high degree of autonomy regarding safe firearm purchasing and handling. In the rare cases where interaction with government regulators was necessary, that interaction respected my rights and privacy.
Revising this language will violate individuals' rights to self-expression and therefore limit their right to bear arms. This proposed language change will objectively disenfranchise an entire group of citizens whose sex falls outside the male/female binary. There is no reason to do this besides to disenfranchise these individuals, and that makes this proposed rule change a clear case of unconstitutional overreach.
