Summary: The commenter suggests separating the application for Disability Compensation (DIC) and Survivor's Pension into two distinct forms to reduce confusion for applicants. They note that the VA currently uses different forms for these benefits and suggest including specific eligibility questions on each to help guide users.
Please put the application for DIC and Survivor's Pension on separate forms. Even with instructions individuals can get confused on what needs to be included. The VA uses different forms for VA compensation (21-526) and NSC Pension (21-527). I anticipate there will be a question about eligibility for both. The form for DIC could have a question about "Are you currently living in a Nursing Home for medical reasons." This could include and explanation to consider applying for Survivor's Pension if eligible.
