Summary: An individual commenter supports the proposed information collection but suggests that the agency should provide a comprehensive information packet to retirees or their spouses. The commenter argues that providing a clear outline of required documentation would reduce the stress and burden on surviving spouses during the DIC filing process.
I am not totally aware of what all the comments on this issue were but In my opinion there should be an information packet prepared and provided to either retiree or spouse, outlining all required documentation needed to file DIC. It is stressful and a burden that spouses do not need at the period of their loss. All efforts to make the process less painful is what is needed. An outlined information sheet would be of great value to the retiree so that documents can be acquired prior to passing. It would help the surviving spouse greatly.
