Summary: The commenter, a spouse of a veteran, expresses frustration with the confusing and inefficient process of filing disability compensation claims. They argue that the process needs improvement, specifically citing issues with inconsistent instructions, redundant exams, and lack of coordination between different medical examiners.
My husband James DeWitt is currently in the process of his third application for his back which a previous claim says he is service connected but was denied for his back claim even though it is in his medical records. Additionally, he applied for his latest claim in March of 2026 but wasn’t told to use a supplemental claim form until June 2026. 70 days later he was notified he needed a different form. Further, he has now been to 3 different C & P exams from two different companies with in two weeks one was very caring and very thorough while the other one seemed like she didn’t even look at my husband’s records before he came in to the appointment. Those appointments were for some of the same things on the claim and he had to do the same tests twice. The process has to be improved it is a terrible confusion at this point.
