Summary: A private individual, likely a veteran, supports the proposed information collection by requesting that the disability compensation application include a specific block for marital status and dependent information. The commenter argues that including this data would streamline the process for recognizing spouses as dependents and ensure more accurate back pay.
The application for disability form should have a block that includes marital status and whether compensation is to be included as a married individual. This can be included in evidence gathering to validate. It is ridiculous my wife of 40 years who contributed to my successful service and is still in Deers enrolled in Tricare is not recognized as my wife or dependent. It is ridiculous I have to apply for her dependent status through the VA and have to wait months for that adjudication and wait for back pay which will probably not be correct. It does not matter about the big picture as to why this is an issue. In this day and age of IT technology this is not a hard problem to overcome quickly. I know you already have to communicate to DOD already
