I am an 81 year's old Vietnam War veteran. I applied for Veteran's Disability on October 27, 2025. In recently checking the status of my claim via the VA.org website, the record shows my claim being in the evidence gathering stage. I was told during my last telephone inquiry that the delay is due to the VA waiting on my personnel files which would prove my service in Vietnam onboard a "brown water" ship. I wrote my Senator and included a copy of my DD-214 which shows my Vietnam Service Medals. However, the VA Regional Office requires more proof which would come from my personnel records. I have taken it upon myself to order my personnel records from the Veteran's Records website of which I am awaiting. I will then fax these records to the VA Regional Office, Houston. I am hopeful this action this will enable my approval process to continue. I have been waiting 8 months for a final disposition of my disability claim.
