Summary: A small-to-mid-sized fabricator argues that the proposed action (specifically regarding quartz pricing and supplier fees) will place an unsustainable burden on their business. They contend that these costs will be passed down to customers, ultimately reducing job volume and causing economic strain across the construction industry.
As a countertop fabricator and installer, we cannot sustain additional increases in quartz pricing. Recent cost hikes have already significantly impacted our business—our expenses have risen sharply, and we’ve tried to absorb these increases by reducing our margins while still maintaining full OSHA compliance and safe cutting practices.
Our customers—home builders, contractors, and remodelers—are all under strong pressure to stay within budget. Continued price increases will inevitably reduce job volume and overall spending.
In our area, Cambria has limited distribution to only two authorized fabricators, leaving approximately 15 other shops without access. At the same time, other U.S.-made products are becoming harder to obtain, with longer lead times due to manufacturing constraints.
Additional supplier fees at this point will further strain the industry and may lead to job losses and reduced project activity. We strongly encourage consideration of the downstream impact on small and mid-sized fabricators like us.
