DHS Docket No. USCIS-2026-0067 would negatively affect individuals and families of legal immigrants. This includes those who are here for humanitarian reasons - having already escaped severe hardship and threats to their life, they must navigate a new system to get a job.
Furthermore, restricting renewals to employers who use E-Verify will devastate newcomers and the communities they live in. Many small businesses, local farms, and neighborhood shops facing labor shortages are willing to help be the first employer. Many of these owners don't know how to navigate the E-Verify or have the resources to do so consistently depending on the local conditions - such as poor internet access in our rural areas.
Our job economy is already harsh, let's not make it worse.
