Summary: A retired nurse and Navy veteran opposes the restriction of work authorization for humanitarian parolees under category (c)(11). The commenter argues that work permits are essential for Ukrainian families to support themselves and contribute to the community.
I am a retired Family Nurse Practitioner, an active Parish Nurse and a Navy Veteran. I teach ESL classes to improve English proficiency. I oppose restricting work authorization for humanitarian parolees under category (c)(11). I work with and mentor several Ukrainian families who work, own small businesses, have mortgages and car payments. They pay taxes, contribute to our community, and were invited to the U.S. for protection. They are parents, grandparents, and even great grandparents. A work permit is their lifeline. I implore you to have compassion on these legal immigrants!
