This is public comment in opposition to the proposed rule restricting work eligibility for documented immigrants. Documented immigrants are a significant part of the U.S. economy and labor force, including in our regional area of north central Washington state.
Healthcare, construction, agriculture, technology and more would be negatively impacted with labor shortages by this proposed rule. Research repeatedly shows that immigrants with work authorization contribute more in taxes than they use in services. Documented status already involves background checks and vetting, and individuals have already undergone legal processes to secure documentation.
This proposal must be rejected.
