I support the national LET THEM WORK initiative, and I am asking DHS and USCIS to protect and expand lawful access to work authorization. This issue affects real people every day. Having the legal right to work gives families stability, dignity, and a chance to move forward. When people can work, they can support their children, pay taxes, and contribute to the communities they live in. When work authorization becomes harder to get, the impact is immediate. Families are left unsure of how they will pay rent or buy food. Employers lose dependable workers. Communities lose people who want to help and be part of the local economy. These policies affect parents trying to support their kids, businesses trying to stay open, and neighborhoods trying to grow stronger. There are many reasons why expanding work authorization helps everyone. It keeps local businesses running by giving them the workers they need. It reduces long-term poverty by allowing people to earn their own income. It helps families stay stable so children can remain in school and routines. It supports public services because more people are paying taxes. It lowers pressure on shelters, food banks, and other community resources. It encourages people to follow the law because they don’t have to rely on unsafe or unfair work situations. It also helps towns and cities grow by bringing more people into the formal workforce. For all these reasons, I strongly urge DHS and USCIS to protect and expand access to work authorization. Please give people the chance to work legally, support their families, and contribute to the country they want to be part of. This choice strengthens our economy, supports our communities, and reflects our values.
