This rule is simply a tax on middle class America. The revenue gained from De Minimis is small in comparison to the federal budget, yet adds to the inflation of prices for regular consumers.
Instead of suspending the de minimis exemption, the limit should be lowered so that people can still get goods from abroad that aren't made domestically without paying exorbitant fees that exceed the value of the purchased goods.
