The USPTO needs to accelerate towards an API based system for patent applications that would allow patent management software, IP systems, law firm platforms, and the USPTO towards API exchange on the real time status of the patent applications, such as validation errors, real time status updates, etc.
Federated digital identity could be done on the applicant/inventors side, such as using CLEAR, login.gov, ID.me, as well as organizational identity by using vLEI, GLEIF via the GLEIF identity ecosystem.
The USPTO will need to think about the movement towards structured, computable patent knowledge assets.
In addition, the USPTO will need to consider a national framework for computable knowledge assets.
