Summary: An individual commenter supports the proposed regulation, arguing that it will enhance the safety of pipeline workers, residents, and the environment. They believe the updated safety plans and protocols will increase operator accountability and reduce the risk of explosions, fires, and gas leaks.
I support this regulation as it will ensure both the health and safety of pipeline workers and individuals/families within their homes. Gas in homes can be dangerous if there are issues with the pipes because there are risks of explosions and fires. By requiring operators of gas distribution pipelines to update their safety plans and DIMPs, the PHMSA will be helping to protect Americans from life-threatening situations. By strengthening pipe-safety protocols, there is less of a chance for gas-leaks which will cause harm to our already-struggling environment. This will also help workers who are operating around pipelines, protecting them from dangerous situations. Further, this proposed rule will increase the accountability of gas distribution operators and ensure that they are using safe practices that will protect the health of families, workers, and the environment. It will ensure that gas is transported safely and efficiently to protect public health as well. I support this new revision.
