Summary: The commenter advocates for a policy allowing employees to use a limited portion of duty time for physical fitness and wellness activities. They argue that this practice is common across other federal agencies and would improve employee health, morale, and organizational readiness.
Based on my experience working with several other federal agencies, it’s increasingly common for organizations to allow employees to use a limited portion of duty time for physical fitness as part of their wellness and readiness programs. In each agency I’ve worked with, the standard policy has allowed employees to use up to one hour per day, three days per week, of administrative leave for approved fitness and wellness activities. Adopting a similar approach here would align our practices with broader federal trends, support employee health and morale, and promote overall organizational readiness.
