Summary: The commenter, who appears to be a federal employee, argues that current deadlines are being abused by management to prevent proper responses and defense. They advocate for longer, more reasonable deadlines to allow employees time to gather evidence and seek professional assistance.
The deadlines currently being used are abused by the upper management to give employees the least amount of time to be able to properly respond. It is an obvious abuse of the system. Sending an email at the end of the day Friday and expecting a response Monday is not only archaic but a cowards way out to avoid taking responsibility for their own mistakes and actions. It is a way to cover things up and sow distrust and fear in the remaining members of the team. Make a change, give real deadlines and accountability. Currently It skips the right to representation and defense. Reasonable time is needed to make contact with any professional who may be able to assist the employee in gathering evidence and/or getting documentation needed. It takes away any power that federal employees may have to build a defense against any accusation regardless of how large or small it may be.
