Summary: A postdoctoral researcher at Duke University opposes the proposed OMB rule, arguing that it will negatively impact young scientists and students. Specifically, the commenter highlights that the rule would make it more difficult for researchers to attend conferences, which are vital for networking and professional development.
I'm writing as a concerned junior scientist. I'm a Maine resident, and postdoctoral researcher at Duke University where I study wildland fires and atmospheric science to improve our ability to predict their spread. I'm writing in opposition to this OMB rule, which will do so much to hurt young scientists and students. One such harm will come from 200.432, which will make it so much harder for young scientists to attend conferences to share their work and make a name for themselves. These conferences are so important for developing community and networks for finding jobs, and finding new fascinating topics to study. Please remove this section as well as all the other changes.
