I am disgusted that the National Science Foundation updated its Proposal & Award Policies and Procedures Guide to align with the OMB's proposed Regulation for Federal Financial Assistance rule - when that rule has not been finalized! Grantmaking for science should NEVER be decided based on political viewpoints. Scientific research benefits everyone - even when a specific breakthrough touches only one group in our society. The new OMB rules are another example of manipulation by this administration to push politics where they don't belong. It is essential to protect independent science from political interference. The proposed OMB regulation must be rejected, and the NSF must follow suit.
