I am firmly opposed to these changes. Congress made these NSF grants to be given on the basis of SCIENTIFIC qualifications, not political ones. The efforts of the current administration to punish ideas that they don't like, to punish institutions that show some independence, to punish different political ideas via the awarding and denial of Federal grants is a trespass on Free Speech. We are already seeing people sicken and sometimes die because DOGE wiped out swaths of funding. Having packed various advisory councils with sycophants, the administration now wants to take us back to the dark ages. STOP.
