As a University professor I have been doing important brain research, mostly with NSF support, for 35 years. When I was a PhD student NSF helped me pay the rent and buy groceries. As a postdoc, NSF paid my salary because as is typical, my supervisor had not initially been awarded enough NSF funds to pay me a salary. This is just my little story, but NSF has supported researchers and students like me across ALL non-medical scientific fields,
OMB does not seem to have an adequate understanding of how essential NSF is to our national standing and to future breakthroughs that will lead to cost savings in many areas. NSF deserves more funding, not funding cuts!
