Summary: A healthcare professional (clinician and pharmacist) opposes the proposed guidance, arguing that it imposes excessive regulatory control over academic freedom and scientific research. The commenter claims the proposal will negatively impact independent science and public health by aligning grantmaking rules with restrictive federal financial regulations.
To whom it may concern,
Look what Vought & the OMB are doing now : continuing their pursuit to undermine the freedom of scientific research now through their puppet board at the NSF & the take over of the National Science Foundation (NSF) is beyond dangerous - it is outright anti American !! You must NOW stop Vought and protect independent science from political interference.
NSF's proposal aims to align its grantmaking rules with OMB's Regulation for Federal Financial Assistance, conforming to requirements like all grants needing approval by political appointees, bans on international collaborations, and restricting communications and publishing.
The NSF proposal creates additional institutional requirements, imposes significant economic impacts on grantees, and implements sweeping regulatory control over institutes of higher education via information collection. This attempt to regulate speech and academic freedom at independent universities is a gross overreach of NSF's authority.
This is another direct threat to scientific independence, public health, and evidence-based decision-making. It must stop NOW - as a concerned clinician & pharmacist, this is blasphemy.
After 45 + years as a HCP , I am disgusted and embarrassed by the negligence of our government to allow this to happen.
