Summary: The commenter opposes the proposal, arguing that it aligns with a previous OMB rule they believe politicizes scientific decision-making and undermines the expertise of professionals. They characterize the timing of the proposal as "bad faith."
As my comment to the OMB's proposed rule said, that rule is disingenuous and politicizes scientific decision-making in ways that, were it in effect in 2020, we would not have had a COVID vaccine as quickly as we did, and would have lost millions more lives. It pulls decisions from the hands of experienced professionals into the hands of whoever happens to be on the executive branch's good side. This proposal aiming to align with that rule BEFORE comments have been reviewed and BEFORE the rule is finalized is the definition of bad faith.
