I am a Certified Prescribed Burn Manager working in north Florida and have been active in the prescribed fire world for about 7 years.
I like the proposed language in the revised standard. It aligns well with requirements of the Florida Forest Service for prescribed burns and – obviously then - the way we plan conduct prescribed burns throughout Florida.
My only two comments are editorial in nature:
Under the section Plans and Specifications, second bullet – make the text read “Assign a burn boss to each burn”. Drop the word “plan”.
Under the section Plans and Specifications, sixth bullet – it seems to me that the 1) NRCS job classification and 2) Location and description of the burn area… are distinct topics and deserve to be listed under separate bullets.
