Summary: A North Carolina resident who lives near existing nuclear plants supports the proposed expansion at the Belews Creek site. The commenter argues that nuclear energy provides clean, reliable, and affordable baseload electricity that will help meet the state's growing energy needs while reducing emissions.
As a North Carolina native who has lived in close proximity to all three of North Carolina's operating nuclear power plants, I strongly support the proposed expansion of nuclear power generation at the Belews Creek site.
Nuclear energy is a proven source of clean, reliable, abundant, and affordable baseload electricity. For decades, North Carolina's existing nuclear plants have safely provided a significant portion of the state's power while supporting economic growth and energy independence.
Expanding nuclear generation at Belews Creek will help meet North Carolina's growing energy needs, maintain grid reliability, reduce emissions, and provide long-term benefits to residents, businesses, and future generations. I encourage approval of this project and continued investment in nuclear energy as a critical component of North Carolina's energy future.
