Summary: Jarad Frey, a combat veteran and law enforcement officer, supports allowing professionals to bolt climbing routes to improve safety. He argues that safer routes provide important mental health benefits and accessibility for intermediate climbers who cannot risk injury.
My name is Jarad Frey, I'm a combat veteran and currently in law enforcement. The #1 thing that helps my mental health is getting outside and climbing in beautiful places. Safe, well bolted climbing routes mean the absolute world to me. I am an intermediate climber, and I can not afford to get injured with my job, so allowing professionals to make climbs safer with bolts opens up so many options for people like me. Please consider allowing climbing areas to be bolted.
