Summary: An individual commenter opposes any revisions to the Wilderness Stewardship Policy Review that would weaken protections for Wilderness Study Areas and existing Wilderness. They argue that the current standards should be preserved to protect these lands as a legacy for future generations.
I strongly oppose any revision to Wilderness Stewardship Policy Review Order #41 that would weaken protection for Wilderness Study Areas, lands with wilderness characteristics, recommended wilderness, and existing Wilderness.
As an older human, I’ve enjoyed wild places for decades. Older humans like me see these places as a legacy that we pass to future generations. This policy and others ensure that the Wilderness Act and the statutes governing these lands are fully implemented. The agency has offered NO justification for reversing decades of policies that have benefitted families like mine. (Your ideology of supposed fire suppression is a known farce!).
I ask that the existing standards be preserved in full, without lowering the standard of care for these lands in any way, so that our wild lands will be protected as they have been.
