Autonomous Vehicles must continue to have manual pedals and steering wheel to facilitate emergency interactions when the vehicles fail in the active roadway. NHTSA has recently issued a letter to the industry regarding the lack of capability to interact with first responders. Manual override controls are a critical piece of these interactions!
