Summary: A former truck driver argues that the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system in certain heavy vehicles is unsafe because it causes the truck to lock up. The commenter supports disabling the device as the only way to ensure safe operation of the vehicle.
I was terminated for disabling the EBC in a 2026 Freightliner cascadia. Me and the other 8 drivers reported this to management during a meeting. Noone in upper management addressed the issue. Only saying take the truck to Penske and Penske knows that there's an issue, but they can't fix the truck. Only continue to update it. The only safe fix is to disable the device. The truck can't lock up when it's disabled. That was the only way I felt safe driving the vehicle.
