Summary: The commenter, a truck driver, opposes the mandate for heavy vehicle automatic emergency braking systems. They argue that the technology causes dangerous false positives, such as "stabbing" the brakes under bridges, and express concern over the high costs associated with the requirement.
I had automatic emergency braking with my 2019 KW T680. In the time of a year, I had 5-6 instances where a false positive occurred with rolling under a bridge/overpass with steel beams. The brakes for no appearant reason , stabbing the brakes with not a vehicle in front of me. That will lead to more accidents then this device is supposed to reduce. Plus it costs money! For more accidents. If large carriers want it or need it for new drivers then it should be there choice, not forced!! Especially for experienced carriers . Thousands of dollars x. Times hundreds of trucks is expensive and should not be forced!
